Alas, is there any hope for me and my laundry cave?
I have probably read every laundry tip in the universe. My sweet friend, Tiffany, even called me with a perky blue color that she said would look great on my walls and would help me want to skip in there and get it done, instead of peering around the door and dreading what was on the other side.
This is just my weakness (among many) that I need to conquer. argh. I have rationalized millions of times...if only I had a lovely big window in here, that I could gaze out while I'm folding, or if I just put my ipod in here, etc. But, let's face it...I need to just get it done!
I would much prefer to just be outside diggin' in the dirt...and so would my boys.
Have a dy-no-mite weekend! I'm off to bed...the laundry will just have to wait til tomorrow! (hehe)

oof. lex...i myself do not love laundry and you have twice as many people as i do! actually, it's the folding/hanging/putting away that gets me. i don't mind doing it - its the after that i don't love! BUT, i usually take a basket full of clean clothes and fold while i watch some tv. i know this doesn't help the hanging, but it's a step, right?! :) good luck, my friend...may the force be with you!

oh, and you know what...your kids don't care if the laundry is done. you are an awesome mom and that's really what's important. laundry shmlaudry!!!
My kids do a majority of the laundry (since the majority of it is theirs).
I'm careful to buy only clothing that is machine washable and is durable.
Emilyn (7), Jillian (10) and Resa (12) All know how to seperate colors, whites, etc, load the machine, switch it to the dryer, then fold and put away.
Thanks to Charlie (who has the patience of Job) they've done this for almost 4 years.
i agree with Jodi! i'm sure you are a great mom and that is all that matters. kids are only little for such a short time in our lives and laundry will always be there! i should post the pile on my entry way hall waiting for me! that would make you feel better. i have found that once you get it all done you just have to do a little each day when you have kids unfortunately. towels one day, clothes the next...blah blah! have a great weekend!
Just throw everything away and start over. That is my thought every time I have to do laundry. And when I start over they will each only have 2 outfits...one they can wear and the other that they can wash the big stains off with a washcloth and let try for the next day. And then on Saturday they can sit around naked wrapped in a big blanket while I wash their 2 outfits.
Have I been watching too much Little House on the Prairie? I swear they were on to something there...
I agree with the Little House comment. Perhaps prosperity really is a trial.
Did I ever tell you about the woman in my stake who gave a talk about receiving personal revelation on how to do her laundry? That's a great story. The women were all ears! We need to have another long phone conversation and I'll tell you all about it.

Enlist the kids' help. knowing your sweet ways they will be on the ready to do good service for you. Here's another tip that you may already know- buy all the same white crew socks for the kids who wear the same size so there is no time spent matching socks.
I have my kids fold and put their away and at the end of the week they get to split whatever change is at the bottom of my purse. I also have the turn their clothes right side out before putting it in the laundry. Every little bit helps. If I were there I would be happy to do your laundry for you.
Maybe you could paint a mural of a bigger pile of laundry that would make yours seem very small :)
I like all the comments about leaving the laundry alone altogether. Besides, kids like to be dirty, right?

Oh my goodness, how in the world did I get so behind?! I have a lot of catching up to do...
But in regards to that first picture...I have often wondered, would it be wrong to stop having kids (even though I may want more) simply because I hate doing laundry?
If we have any more my family might just have to be OK with looking dirty and smelling like Febreeze.
I painted my laundry room in Texas yellow with polka dots...and it helped.
you are so cute! i love that you posted your laundry - obviously you have some allies that share your pain, me included! And I can't stay consistent for the life of me... I catch up completely, then let it go to shambles all over again. You'd think I'd learn by now!
